Did you know that the Olympic rings represent the union of the five continents and the gathering of athletes worldwide?

This international sports festival held every four years has significance and symbolism to societies worldwide. We are united in our desire to celebrate achievement yet diverse in areas we compete. We compete with goals to cultivate human beings through sport and contribute to world peace. Now one may not think that that’s the case, but there is a reason even Germany joined in the 1936 Olympics during the war.

The Olympics games have always been a significant event for many years. They emphasize unity, a country’s pride, and lifestyle to a great extent. No matter where you’re from, you have everyone back home supporting you and cheering for you, even if you’re not from the same place. The sense of world unity that it brings to us while disregarding the time, unity prevails in countries come together folks from all walks of life get the chance to see their country strive for. In addition, you have economies flourishing during and post games such as Bejing 2008 and London 2012.

Athletes go out to battle during these games. However, their lives don’t seem to be on the line. Similar to war, there is still a sense of representation and honor for their own country. Sports can unify a nation, and the Olympics is the perfect opportunity to bring the world together.

Additionally, many people are influenced by these celebrities performing, especially famous athletes like Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, and Shawn White. These people have significance in emulating why physical activity is essential for a healthy lifestyle. For example, Olympic day is how the Olympics use their platform to help provide numerous important health benefits. The Olympic day is the occasion for the International Olympic Committee to promote the critical role of sport and physical activity in society. They demonstrate the importance of physical activity and the Olympic’s influence on a healthy lifestyle.

To witness an event where each country’s flag being brought together to be displayed as one significant objective is genuinely synonymous (as close as it gets) with witnessing world peace. With friendship and alliance with no discrimination in race and gender, the Olympics are perhaps the only place where the world truly lives out unity and diversity. This makes the event so unique and essential. Overall, the Olympics are so relevant to life today. It provides a sense of nationalism, putting countries on the road to success.

Furthermore, the event serves as a model for people to be inspired to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Most notably, the Olympic Games have the power to unite; unlike anything else, differences are put aside, and we focus worldwide on sharing a shared love for the sport. Therefore, the world needs the Olympic Games because it genuinely catches the best of human camaraderie and the competitive spirit.
